FOURTH SECTION

Application no. 56814/13 HUMAN RIGHTS MONITORING INSTITUTE against Lithuania

The European Court of Human Rights (Fourth Section), sitting on 23 May 2017 as a Committee composed of:

Paulo Pinto de Albuquerque, President, Egidijus Kūris, Georges Ravarani, judges,

and Andrea Tamietti, Deputy Section Registrar,

Having regard to the above application lodged on 9 August 2013,

Having deliberated, decides as follows:

FACTS AND PROCEDURE

1 The applicant, Human Rights Monitoring Institute, is a non ‑ governmental organisation working in the field of human rights in Lithuania.

2 The applicant argued a violation of Articles 10 and 13 of the Convention, because the State Security Department in Lithuania had denied it information concerning Lithuania’s alleged participation in the United States Central Intelligence Agency secret rendition programme.

3 On 24 March 2017 the applicant informed the Court that it no longer intended to pursue the application and wished to withdraw it.

THE LAW

4 In the light of the foregoing, and in the absence of any special circumstances regarding respect for the rights guaranteed by the Convention or its Protocols, the Court, in accordance with Article 37 § 1 (a) of the Convention, considers that it is no longer justified to continue the examination of the application.

In view of the above, it is appropriate to strike the case out of the list.

For these reasons, the Court, unanimously,

Decides to strike the application out of its list of cases.

Done in English and notified in writing on 15 June 2017.
