The European Union Agency for Network and Information Security (ENISA) is a centre of network and information security expertise for the EU, its member states, the private sector and Europe’s citizens. ENISA works with these groups to develop advice and recommendations on good practice in information security. It assists EU member states in implementing relevant EU legislation and works to improve the resilience of Europe’s critical information infrastructure and networks. ENISA seeks to enhance existing expertise in EU member states by supporting the development of cross-border communities committed to improving network and information security throughout the EU. This concise report provides an overview of the requests to the Agency according to article 14 of Regulation (EU) No 526/2013. Information contained in this report is accurate as on 03 December 2018.

Overview of Article 14 requests in 2017-2018

Key figures in this report are the following:

Number of new requests: 20 17 -15% Number of requests in progress: 3 12 +300% Number of requests completed: 19 5 -74% Number of requests received 2018 to be initiated 2019 0 Effort in person days: 281,2 701 +149% (1) (2) Effort in Euros (FTE including overhead) €157.209,92 €405.178 +157% Direct Cost : €117.901,37 €33.348 -72% Total Cost: €275.111,29 €438.667 +59% (1) Mean full time equivalent (FTE) costs are calculated on the basis of the total budget consumption over 201,6 actual working days p.a., to support salaries and overhead for staff in service in the reference year (65,28 FTEs in 2018 including TA, CA and SNE). (2) Based on statistical analysis at the end of 2018 the use Cost of a person-day in 2018 (including overheads) is €578. (3) Mission costs, other direct expenses linked to request are included in this budget estimate.

The effort in person days was provided by staff from the Core Operations Department – there were no additional staff costs incurred. Direct costs were provided out of the operational part of the budget (Title 3 appropriations).
