Regeringen beslutade den 14 november 2002 att Sverige skulle inträda som medlem i ICMPD. Anslutningsinstrumentet deponerades hos den österrikiska regeringen den 2 december 2002.
Avtalet trädde i kraft den 1 maj 1993 och för Sverige trädde det i kraft den 2 december 2002.
