REGULATION (EEC) No 777/71 OF THE COUNCIL of 14 April 1971 amending certain provisions concerning intervention measures provided for by Regulation No 121 /67/EEC on the common organisation of the market in pigmeat

THE COUNCIL OF THE EUROPEAN COMMUNITIES, price for pig carcases on representative Community markets is still slightly higher than the basic price; Having regard to the Treaty establishing the European Economic Community, and in particular Article 43 thereof; HAS ADOPTED THIS REGULATION :

Having regard to the proposal from the Commission; Article 1 Having regard to the Opinion of the European Parliament1 ; The following shall be substituted for Article 4 (2) of Regulation No 121 /67/EEC : Whereas a Community intervention system was established for the market in pigmeat by Regulation '2 Intervention measures may be taken when, on No 121 /67/EEC,2 as last amended by Regulation the representative markets of the Community, the ( EEC) No 1253/703 ; average price for pig carcases is, and is likely to remain, less than 103% of the basic price.' Whereas experience of the application of this system has shown that by the time intervention measures can be taken on certain markets, prices are already Article 2 appreciably lower than the basic price; This . Regulation shall enter into force on the day Whereas it should consequently be provided that following its publication in the Official Journal of the intervention may take place even when the average European Communities.

This Regulation shall be binding in its entirety and directly applicable in all Member States .
