REGULATION (EEC) No 2725 /71 OF THE COUNCIL

of 20 December 1971 amending Regulation (EEC) No 888/68 as regards the definition of preserved beef and veal

THE COUNCIL OF THE EUROPEAN COMMUNITIES , commercial policy, the percentage of meat and jelly in preserved foods covered by such terms should be Having regard to the Treaty establishing the amended : European Economic Community;

HAS ADOPTED THIS REGULATION : Having regard to Council Regulation ( EEC ) No 805 /68 1 of 27 June 1968 on the common organisation Article 1 of the market in beef and veal, as last amended by Regulation (EEC) No 1261 /71 ,2 and in particular Article 14 (3 ) thereof; The following shall be substituted for Article 1 (6) of Regulation (EEC) No 888/68 : Having regard to the proposal from the Commission ; 'For the purposes of the first subparagraph of Article 14 (2) of Regulation (EEC) No 805 /68 , Whereas Article 14 of Regulation (EEC) No 805 /68 "preserved foods" means products of which the provides for special import terms for certain frozen total weight of meat of bovine animals and jelly is beef and veal intended for processing; whereas at least 85% of the total net weight of such Regulation (EEC) No 888/68,3 as amended by products.' Regulation (EEC) No 2140/69,4 laid down general rules on special import terms for certain frozen meats Article 2 intended for processing;

Whereas, to adapt such terms more closely to market This Regulation shall enter into force on 1 January requirements and to the development of the common 1972 .

This Regulation shall be binding in its entirety and directly applicable in all Member States .
