REGULATION (EEC) No 359/73 OF THE COMMISSION of 31 January 1973 authorizing the United Kingdom to suspend in part the customs duties on certain products derived from pears not containing added sugar and imported from other Member States

THE COMMISSION OF THE EUROPEAN Whereas the measures provided for in this Regulation COMMUNITIES , are in accordance with the Opinion of the Management Committee for Sugar ; Having regard to the Treaty ( x) concerning the Ac­ cession of new Member States to the European Economic Community and the European Atomic HAS ADOPTED THIS REGULATION : Energy Community, signed at Brussels on 22 January 1972, and in particular Article 59 (4) of the Act annexed thereto , Article 1 The Government of the United Kingdom is authorized "Whereas Article 59 (4) of the Act provides that, in to apply a customs duty of 5% until 31 December respect of products covered by a common organization 1973 on imports, from other Member States, of pears of the market, the new Member States may be author­ not containing added sugar falling within subheading ized to suspend in whole or in part the customs duties 20.06 B I d) 1 bb), 20.06 Bid) 2 bb), 20.06 B II c) on products imported from other Member States ; 1 cc) and 20.06 B II c) 2 of the Common Customs Tariff. "Whereas the Government of the United Kingdom has applied to suspend the customs duties in part for 1973 on pears not containing added sugar falling Article 2 within heading 20.06 of the Common Customs Tariff ; This Regulation shall enter into force on the day of its publication in the Official Journal of the European "Whereas trade between Member States will benefit Communities . from this suspension and whereas the request should therefore be granted ; This Regulation shall apply from 1 February 1973 .

This Regulation shall be binding in its entirety and directly applicable in all Member States .
