amending for the fifth time Regulation (EEC) No 1599/71 laying down additional conditions with which imported wines for direct human consumption must comply

THE COUNCIL OF THE EUROPEAN COMMUNITIES , Whereas, having regard, however, to the difficulties encountered in working out certain provisions at the Having regard to the Treaty establishing the Euro­ Community level, particularly in relation to the total pean Economic Community ; sulphur dioxide content, it transpires that it is impossible to meet this date and it is accordingly opportune to put off again the date fixed for the Having regard to the Council Regulation (EEC) No application of Regulation ( EEC ) No 1599/71 , 816/70 (*) of 28 April 1970 laying down additional provisions for the common organization of the market in wine, as last amended by Regulation (EEC ) No 2680/72 (2), and in particular Article 28 ( 1 ) ( b ) HAS ADOPTED THIS REGULATION : thereof; Article 1 Having regard to the proposal from the Commission ;

Whereas Regulation ( EEC ) No 1599/71 ( 3 ), as last In Article 4 of Regulation ( EEC) No 1599/71 : '1 April' amended by Regulation ( EEC) No 2292/74 (4), laid 1973 shall be replaced by : '1 July' 1973 . down the additional conditions with which imported wines intended for direct human consumption must Article 2 comply ; whereas it is provided, in Article 4 of that Regulation, that these additional conditions will be applied from 1 April 1973 ; This Regulation shall enter into force on 1 April 1973 .

This Regulation shall be binding in its entirety and directly applicable in all Member States .
