REGULATION (EEC) No 2057/73 OF THE COMMISSION

of 27 July 1973 re-establishing Common Customs Tariff duties on sheep- and lamb-skin leather falling within subheading No 41.03 B II, originating in Lebanon, to which the preferential tariff arrangements set out in Council Regulation (EEC) No 2762/72 of 19 December 1972 apply

THE COMMISSION OF THE EUROPEAN Whereas, in respect of sheep- and lamb-skin leather COMMUNITIES , of subheading 41.03 B II, the ceiling, calculated as ' indicated above, should be 1 123 000 units of account, and therefore the maximum amount 561 500 Having regard to the Treaty establishing the European units of account ; whereas on 24 July 1973 the Economic Community ; amounts of imports into the Community of sheep­ and lamb-skin leather of subheading 41.03 B II Having regard to Council Regulation (EEC ) No originating in Lebanon, a country covered by 2762/72 (*) of 19 December 1972 establishing preferential tariff arrangements, reached that preferential tariffs in respect of certain products maximum amount ; whereas, bearing in mind the objectives of Council Regulation (EEC) No 2762/72, originating in developing countries, and in particular which provides that maximum amounts should not Article 4 (2) thereof; be exceeded, Common Customs Tariff duties should be re-established in respect of the products in Whereas Article 1 (3 ) and (4) of that Regulation question in relation to Lebanon ; provides that the Common Customs Tariff duties may, for each category of products, be suspended up to a Community ceiling, expressed in units of HAS ADOPTED THIS REGULATION : account, which will usually be equal to the sum arrived at by adding together the value of the products in question imported cif into the Article 1 Community in 1968 and coming from countries and territories covered by those arrangements, but not As from 31 July 1973 , Common Customs Tariff including products coming from countries and duties, suspended in pursuance of Council Regulation territories already covered by various preferential tariff (EEC) No 2762/72 of 19 December 1972, shall be arrangements established by the Community, and re-established in respect of the following products 5 % of the value of 1970 cif imports coming from imported into the Community and originating in other countries and from countries and territories Lebanon : already covered by such arrangements ;

Whereas, having regard to that ceiling, the amounts CCT heading Description of goods for products originating in any one of the countries No or territories listed in Annex B to that Regulation should be within a maximum Community amount representing 50 % of that ceiling, with the exception 41.03 Sheep - and lamb-skin leather, except of certain products for which the maximum amount leather falling within heading Nos 41.06, is to be reduced to the percentage indicated in Annex 41.07 or 41.08 : A to that Regulation ; B. Other : II . Other Whereas Article 2 ( 2 ) of that Regulation provides that the Common Customs Tariff duties may be re-established at any time in respect of imports of the products in question originating in any of the said countries or territories once the relevant Community Article 2 maximum amount has been reached ; This Regulation shall enter into force on the third day following its publication in the Official journal (!) OJ No L 296 , 30. 12. 1972, p . 15 . of the European Communities .

This Regulation shall be binding in its entirety and directly applicable in all Member States .
