REGULATION (EEC ) No 3457/73 OF THE COUNCIL
of 17 December 1973 increasing the Community tariff quota for certain eels falling within subheading No ex 03.01 A II of the Common Customs Tariff
THE COUNCIL OF THE EUROPEAN COMMUNITIES , increase would not jeopardize the efforts being made to extend Community production, Having regard to the Treaty establishing the European Economic Community, and in particular Article 28 thereof; HAS ADOPTED THIS REGULATION :
Having regard to the proposal from the Commission ; Article 1 Having regard to the Opinion of the European Parliament ; The quota provided for in Article 1 of the Regulation (EEC) No 2727/72 is increased from 5 300 to 7 800 metric tons . Whereas, by Council Regulation No 2727/72 (*), the Council opened and allocated among the Member States a Community Tariff quota for 1973 of 5 300 Article 2 metric tons of fresh eels (live or dead ), chilled or frozen, whether intended for preservation in brine or 1 . The quota shares allocated to the Member for the industrial manufacture of products falling States by Article 2 of Regulation (EEC ) No 2727/72 within heading No 16.04, falling — subject to are altered to the following amounts : conditions to be determined by the competent authorities — within subheading No ex 03.01 A II of Germany 4 300 metric tons the Common Customs Tariff ; Benelux 1 900 metric tons Whereas in fixing the quota at 5 300 metric tons , account was taken of the fact that Community 2. The Community reserve provided for in Article production was expected to increase considerably in 2 of Regulation (EEC ) No 2727/72 is increased from 1 000 to 1 100 metric tons . 1973 ; whereas it has become apparent that there has thus far been only a slight increase and that total Community requirements in the products in question Article 3 are higher than was originally estimated ; whereas further requirements amounting to some 2 500 metric tons are not covered by Community production ; This Regulation shall enter into, force on the third whereas it therefore seems desirable to increase the day following its publication in the Official Journal initial quota to 7 800 metric tons ; whereas such an of the European Communities .
