REGULATION (EEC) No 723/74 OF THE COMMISSION of 29 March 1974 concerning aid to Irish pig producers

THE COMMISSION OF THE EUROPEAN Whereas the measures provided for in this Regulation COMMUNITIES , are in accordance with the Opinion of the Manage­ ment Committee for Pigmeat, Having regard to the Treaty {}) on the Accession of new Member States to the European Economic Community and the European Atomic Energy HAS ADOPTED THIS REGULATION : Community, and in particular Article 63 of the Act (2) annexed thereto ; Article 1 Whereas under Commission Regulation (EEC) No 722/74 (3) of 29 March 1974 the United Kingdom was Whenever the United Kingdom grants aid to pig authorized to grant a degressive national aid to pig producers under Regulation (EEC) No 722/74, Ireland producers ; shall grant a like aid of a like amount. Whereas the economic position of pig producers in Ireland is very much the same as that of their counter­ Article 2 parts in the United Kingdom ; whereas, in order to prevent distortion of competition between those two This Regulation shall enter into force on the day Member States, it is therefore necessary to provide for following its publication in the Official Journal of a like aid to be granted to Irish pig producers ; the European Communities.

This Regulation shall be binding in its entirety and directly applicable in all Member States .
