REGULATION (EEC ) No 1616/74 OF THE COUNCIL of 25 June 1974 on the temporary suspension of the autonomous duties in the Common Customs Tariff for certain industrial products

THE COUNCIL OF THE EUROPEAN Whereas, taking account of the difficulties involved COMMUNITIES, in accurately assessing the development of the economic situation in the sectors concerned in the near future, these suspension measures should be Having regard to the Treaty establishing the taken only temporarily, by fixing their term of validity European Economic Community, and in particular to coincide with the interests of Community pro­ Article 28 thereof ; duction, Having regard to the draft Regulation submitted by the Commission ; HAS ADOPTED THIS REGULATION : Whereas production of the products referred to in Article 1 the present Regulation is at present inadequate or non-existent within the Community and producers The autonomous Common Customs Tariff duties are thus unable to meet the. needs of user industries for the products listed in the Tables annexed hereto in the Community ; shall be suspended at the level indicated in respect of each of them . Whereas it is in the Community's interest to suspend the autonomous Common Customs Tariff duties These suspensions shall be applicable : only partially in certain cases, chiefly because of the existence of Community production , and in other — from 1 July to 31 December 1974 for the products cases to suspend duties completely ; listed in Table I ; — from 1 July 1974 to 30 June 1975 for the products Whereas, for spirits of turpentine falling within listed in Table II . subheading 38.07 A, the Association Council estab­ lished within the framework of the. Association between the European Economic Community and Article 2 Greece agreed to a suspension of the Common Customs Tariff duty applicable to this product ; This Regulation shall enter into force on 1 July 1974.
