REGULATION ( EEC ) No 1815 / 74 OF THE COUNCIL of 11 July 1974 amending Regulation ( EEC) No 3509/73 on the opening of tariff preferences in the form of a partial suspension of customs duties for products made from jute and coir originating in India and products made from jute originating in Bangladesh

THE COUNCIL OF THE EUROPEAN COMMUNITIES, Having regard to the Treaty establishing the European Economic Community ; Whereas Council Regulation (EEC) No 3509/73 (') opened tariff preferences in the form of a partial suspension of customs duties for products made from jute and coir originating in India and products made from jute originating in Bangladesh ; Whereas as a result of the entry into force of the Agreement between the European Economic Community and the Republic of India on trade in jute products (2) and of the Agreement between the European Economic Community and the Republic of India on trade in coir products (3), Regulation (EEC) No 3509/73 should be amended so that tariff preferences include not only yarn and fabrics of jute proper, but also yarn and fabrics of other textile bast fibres of heading No 57.03 of the Common Customs Tariff and apply, moreover, to all products coming under subheading 58.02 A I of the Common Customs Tariff ; Whereas, moreover, the current negotiations between the Community and Bangladesh concerning an agreement on the same jute products will shortly be completed ; whereas the preferential arrangements introduced in Regulation (EEC) No 3509/73 for Bangladesh should therefore be extended until 31 December 1974,

HAS ADOPTED THIS REGULATION :

Article 1 1 . The table set out in Article 1 ( 1 ) of Regulation (EEC) No 3509/73 shall be replaced by the following :

2. The date '30 June 1974', appearing in Article 1 (3 ) of Regulation (EEC) No 3509/73 , shall be replaced by '31 December 1974'.

Article 2 This Regulation shall enter into force on 1 July 1974.

This Regulation shall be binding in its entirety and directly applicable in all Member States .
