COMMISSION REGULATION ( EEC) No 1896/76 of 29 July 1976 extending the period of validity of the system of exceptional intervention measures in the beef and veal sector to be taken in certain regions of the Community most affected by the drought

THE COMMISSION OF THE EUROPEAN Whereas the measures provided for in this Regulation COMMUNITIES, are in accordance with the opinion of the Manage­ ment Committee for Beef and Veal, Having regard to the Treaty establishing the European Economic Community, HAS ADOPTED THIS REGULATION : Having regard to Council Regulation (EEC) No 805/68 of 27 June 1968 on the common organization Article 1 of the market in beef and veal ('), as last amended by Regulation (EEC) No 568/76 (2), and in particular During the period 1 August to 15 September 1976 : Article 6 (5) thereof, 1 . the exceptional measures of intervention provided for in Regulation ( EEC) No 1478/76 may be taken Whereas Commission Regulation (EEC) No 1478 /76 by the French intervention agency in respect of of 24 June 1976 relating to exceptional measures of intervention to be taken in France on the market in 10 000 metric tons of beef coming from 'Vaches A' and 'Vaches N ' ; beef and veal as a result of the drought (3), authorizes 2. the exceptional measures of intervention provided the French intervention agency to buy the meat of certain categories of cows during the period 28 Tune for in Regulation (EEC) No 1643/76 may be taken : to 31 July 1976 ; (a) by the German intervention agency in respect Whereas Commission Regulation (EEC) No 1643/76 of 5 000 metric tons of beef coming from of 7 July 1976 on the exceptional intervention 'Kiihe B' ; measures in the beef and veal sector to be taken in certain regions of the Community most affected by (b) by the Belgian intervention agency in respect of 1 200 metric tons of beef coming from the drought (4), as amended by Regulation (EEC) No 'Vaches 55 % ' ; 1712/76 (5), authorizes the Belgian, German , Luxem­ bourg and Netherlands intervention agencies to buy (c) by the Luxembourg intervention agency in the meat of certain categories of cows during the respect of 500 metric tons of beef coming from period 7 to 31 July 1976 ; 'Vaches extra' and 'Vaches A' ; (d) by the Netherlands intervention agency in Whereas the reasons which led to the adoption of respect of 1 200 metric tons of beef coming these exceptional intervention measures still persist in from ' Koeien 2e kwaliteit'. the Member States concerned ; whereas, therefore, the period of validity of those measures should be Article 2 extended and quantities of animals which may be the subject of such intervention purchases should be deter­ This Regulation shall enter into force on 1 August mined ; 1976 .
