(a) The equivalent weight is the weight obtained by dividing the total surface area of a woven fabric

in square metres by the average surface area of that fabric in square metres per kilogramme. For

the purposes of applying this rule, the following average surface area per kilogramme shall be

used :

woven fabrics of cotton : five square metres per kilogramme ;

woven fabrics of synthetic textile fibres (discontinuous) : six square metres per kilogramme ;

woven fabrics of synthetic fibres (continuous) : eight square metres per kilogramme.

(b) The share allocated to the United Kingdom from this category is also applied to exports of the

products falling within Common Custom Tariff heading No 51.04 referred to below :

'Woven fabrics of man-made fibres (continuous), including woven fabrics of monofil or strip of

heading No 51.01 or 51.02 :

(c) This quantitative limit constitutes a cut-off level within the share allocated to the United

Kingdom in respect of products of category 1 , category la being a subcategory thereof.

(d) The share allocated to the United Kingdom from this category is also applied to exports of the

products falling within Common Customs Tariff heading No 51.04 referred to below :

'Woven fabrics of man-made fibres (continuous), including woven fabrics of monofil or strip of

heading No 51.01 or 51.02 :

(e) This quantitative limit constitutes a cut-off level within the share allocated to the United

Kingdom in respect of the products of category 2, category 2a being a subcategory thereof.

(f) Shirts and T-shirts are regarded as one unit, undervests, singlets and the like as half a unit.

(g) A knitted or crocheted combination set consists of two or three articles, for example an upper

part and a lower part, which are ordered, packaged, transported and sold together.

(h) The weight is regarded as that of the textile components in question .

(i) The share allocated to the United Kingdom from this category is also applied to imports of all

outer garments and other articles falling within Common Customs Tariff heading No 60.05 other

than those listed in categories 4 and 5.

(j) This description covers three-quarter-length or longer coats or overcoats made of a textile fabric

treated either by impregnation , coating, covering or otherwise, so as to become waterproof or

shower resistant .

(k) Suits are, for this purpose, counted as two units each .

nated or coated fabrics which are proper to NIMEXE ( 1976) code 61.01-11 and those articles

which are proper to NIMEXE ( 1976) code, 61.01-31 , 35, 39, 41 , 45 or 49 .

ANNEX E

Details referred to tn Article 1 (3)

The export licences issued by the Hong Kong authorities in respect of the products subject to

restraint under this Regulation shall specifiy and contain :

1 . destination ;

2 . serial number ;

3 . importer's name and address ;

4. exporter's name and address ;

5. quantity in the units as designated in Annexes A and B to this Regulation and, where the quantity

is expressed other than in weight, the equivalent weight calculated in accordance with the table of

equivalences set out in Annex D to this Regulation ;

6. category and quota share to which it has been debited by the Hong Kong authorities and descrip­

tion of product ;

7 . certification by Hong Kong that the quantity has been debited against the agreed ceiling for

exports to the Community or, where appropriate, is for immediate re-export or is for inward

processing and subsequent re-export outside the Community ;

8 . year during which the products were exported, that is, left the territory of Hong Kong.
