COMMISSION REGULATION (EEC) No 80/77 of 14 January 1977

on transitional measures concerning the application of certain monetary compensatory amounts in trade between Ireland and the United Kingdom

THE COMMISSION OF THE EUROPEAN applicable for the period beginning 17 January 1977 COMMUNITIES , the monetary compensatory amounts in force on 16 January 1977 for the products listed in the Annex Having regard to the Treaty establishing the European Economic Community , shall continue to be applied :

Having regard to Council Regulation (EEC ) No ( a ) to products exported from Ireland to the United 557/76 of 15 March 1976 on the exchange rates to be Kingdom in respect of which customs export applied in agriculture (*), as last amended by formalities are completed within a period of two Regulation ( EEC) No 3206/76 ( 2), and in particular months beginning on 17 January 1977, Article 3 thereof, ( b ) to products as referred to in ( a ) imported into the Whereas Regulation (EEC ) No 3206/76 fixed a new United Kingdom in respect of which customs representative rate for the Irish pound to take effect formalities for release to the market are from 17 January 1977; completed within a period of two months beginning on 17 January 1977 . Whereas the fixing of the new rate has led to a considerable change in the monetary compensatory 2. However, paragraph 1 shall not apply to amounts applicable in trade between Ireland and the United Kingdom ; whereas, in view of this change, products in respect of which proof is furnished that they were : speculation is likely to occur in certain particularly sensitive sectors , leading to a deflection of trade ; — harvested or obtained in Ireland . Whereas, to avoid such deflection , provision should — obtained from pigs or bovine animals slaughtered be made in respect of those products which are likely in Ireland, or to give rise to speculation for the monetary compensatory amounts in force on 16 January 1977 — imported into Ireland before 22 December 1976 to continue to be applied after that date to the or on or after 17 January 1977. products concerned ; 3 . 1 . By way of derogation from the Regulations This Regulation shall enter into force on 17 January fixing the monetary compensatory amounts 1977 .

This Regulation shall be binding in its entirety and directly applicable in all Member States .
