COUNCIL REGULATION (EEC) No 265/78
of 7 February 1978
making the importation into the Community of textile products originating in certain third countries subject to common rules for authorization and quantitative limitation
THE COUNCIL OF THE EUROPEAN Whereas, subject to this Regulation and other COMMUNITIES, Community measures either in force now or which may be adopted, the abolition and suspension of quantitative limits on imports, effected in com Having regard to the Treaty establishing the pliance with the Arrangement regarding international European Economic Community and in particular trade in textiles , are maintained , Article 113 thereof,
Having regard to Council Regulation ( EEC) HAS ADOPTED THIS REGULATION : No 1439/74 of 4 June 1974 on common rules for imports (*), and in particular Article 13 thereof, Article 1
Having regard to Council Regulation ( EEC) No The common rules established by Regulation (EEC) 109/70 of 19 December 1969 establishing common No 3019/77 shall apply until 31 December 1978 . rules for imports from State-trading countries ( 2) and in particular Article 8 thereof,
Article 2 Having regard to the proposal from the Commission, The quantitative limits established in Article 2 of Regulation (EEC ) No 3019/77 are allocated among Whereas by its Regulation ( EEC) No 3019/77 (3 ) the Member States as set out in the Annex to this the Commission made the importation into the Regulation . Community of textile products originating in certain third countries subject to common rules for authorization and quantitative limitation ; Article 3
Whereas by its Decision of 19 January 1978 the The authorities of the Member States shall Commission allocated among the Member States authorize, up to the amount of the quantitative for 1978 the quantitative limits laid down by limits laid down in the Annex to this Regulation, Regulation (EEC) No 3019 /77 ; the import of the textile products referred to in Regulation ( EEC) No 3019 /77 in accordance with that Regulation . Whereas the grounds justifying the introduction of these measures have persisted ; whereas it is therefore necessary for the measures to remain in force until Article 4 31 December 1978 ;
Except for the provisions of this Regulation and of other Community measures either in force now or which may be adopted, imports of the textile (M OJ No L 159, 15 . 6 . 1974, p. 1 . ( 2) OJ No L 19, 26. 1 . 1970, p. 1 . products listed in Annex A to Regulation ( EEC) (3) OJ No L 357, 31 . 12 . 1977, p. 1 . No 3019 /77 are not subject to quantitative restriction.

Article5¶
The common rules laid down by this Regulation This Regulation shall enter into force on the day shall be applicable from 1 January to 31 December following its publication in the Official Journal of 1978 . the European Communities .
This Regulation shall be binding in its entirety and directly applicable in all Member States .
