COMMISSION REGULATION ( EEC) No 777 /78 of 18 April 1978 re-establishing the levying of customs duties on gloves, mittens and mitts, knitted or crocheted, not elastic or rubberized, falling within heading No 60.02 and originating in Thailand, to which the preferential tariff arrangements set out in Regulation (EEC) No 2706/77 apply

THE COMMISSION OF THE EUROPEAN ceiling, calculated as indicated above , should be 35 COMMUNITIES, tonnes, and therefore the maximum amount is 17.50 tonnes ; whereas on 12 April 1978 the amounts of Having regard to the Treaty establishing the European imports into the Community of gloves, mittens and Economic Community, mitts, knitted or crocheted , not elastic or rubberized and originating in Thailand , a country covered by pref­ Having regard to Council Regulation (EEC) No 2706/77 of 28 November 1977 opening, allocating erential tariff arrangements, reached that maximum and providing for the administration of Community amount ; whereas, bearing in mind the objectives of Regulation (EEC) No 2706/77 which provides that tariff preferences for textile products originating in maximum amounts should not be exceeded , customs developing countries and territories ('), and in parti­ cular Article 4 thereof, duties should be re-established in respect of the products in question in relation to Thailand , Whereas Article 2 ( 1 ) to (3) of that Regulation provides that customs duties may, for each category of HAS ADOPTED THIS REGULATION : products, be suspended up to a Community ceiling which is indicated, for each of the products listed in Article 1 Annex B, under (a) in column 5 ; whereas only the products originating in the countries and territories As from 22 April 1978 , the levying of customs duties, listed in Annex D thereto, other than those specified suspended in pursuance of Council Regulation (EEC) under (b) in column 4 of Annex B, in respect of the No 2706/77, shall be re-established in respect of the corresponding products, may be charged against that following products, imported into the Community ceiling ; whereas, having regard to that ceiling, the and originating in Thailand : amounts for products originating in any one of the countries listed in Annex D should be within a CCT maximum amount representing 50 % of that ceiling ; heading Description No Whereas Article 3 (2) of that Regulation provides that the levying of customs duties may be re-established at 60.02 ^ Gloves, mittens and mitts, knitted or any time in respect of imports of the products in ques­ crocheted, not elastic or rubberized tion originating in any of the said countries and territories, with exception of countries listed in its Annex E, once the relevant Community maximum Article 2 amount has been reached ; This Regulation shall enter into force on the third day Whereas, in respect of gloves, mittens and mitts, following its publication in the Official Journal of knitted or crocheted, not elastic or rubberized, the the European Communities. u

This Regulation shall be binding in its entirety and directly applicable in all Member States .
