COUNCIL REGULATION (EEC) No 1846/78 of 25 July 1978
allocating catch quotas between Member States for vessels fishing in Faroese waters
THE COUNCIL OF THE EUROPEAN COMMUNITIES, Whereas for this purpose it is necessary to allocate these quotas between the Member States of the Community;
Having regard to the Treaty establishing the European Economic Community, and in particular Article 43 Whereas information about actual catches should be thereof, made available in order to ensure that the allocations are respected, Having regard to the proposal from the Commission,
Having regard to the opinion of the European Parlia ment ( 1),
Whereas on 3 November 1976 the Council adopted a HAS ADOPTED THIS REGULATION : set of resolutions concerning certain external and inter nal aspects of the common fisheries policy;
Whereas the Community on the one hand and the Article 1 Government of Denmark and the Home Government of the Faroe Islands on the other have signed a Framework From 1 January to 31 December 1978 vessels flying the Agreement on fisheries ; flag of a Member State shall be authorized to make only the catches set out in the Annex hereto in waters falling Whereas the Community, the Government of Denmark within the fisheries jurisdiction of the Faroe Islands. and the Home Government of the Faroe Islands have held consultations concerning their mutual fishing allo cations for 1978 ;
Article 2 Whereas during the consultations the delegations agreed to recommend to their authorities that they fix certain Member States shall periodically transmit to the Com catch quotas for 1978 for vessels of the other party; mission information concerning the catches, broken down by species, made by vessels flying their flag fish Whereas the delegations have also agreed that it is ing in Faroese waters. necessary to restrict fishing for blue whiting by the vessels of both parties to agreed limits ;
Whereas it is the responsibility of the Community to Article 3 allocate the catch quotas in the Faroese fishery zone among the Community vessels concerned; This Regulation shall enter into force on the day of its publication in the Official Journal of the European Communities .

This Regulation shall be binding in its entirety and directly applicable in all Member States .
