COMMISSION REGULATION (EEC) No 742/79 of 11 April 1979 derogating from Regulation (EEC) No 216/69 as regards the sale of beef held by the Irish intervention agency, provided for in Regulation (EEC) No 1027/78

THE COMMISSION OF THE EUROPEAN HAS ADOPTED THIS REGULATION : COMMUNITIES, Having regard to the Treaty establishing the European Article 1 Economic Community,

Having regard to Council Regulation (EEC) No In connection with the sale of beef held by the Irish 805/68 of 27 June 1968 on the common organization , intervention agency, provided for in Regulation (EEC) of the market in beef and veal (•), as last amended by No 1027/78 , and by way of derogation from Article 4 Regulation (EEC) No 425/77 (2), and in particular ( 1 ) of Regulation (EEC) No 216/69, the period Article 7 (3) thereof, provided for the confirmation of applications submitted on 22 March 1979 and the provision of Whereas Commission Regulation (EEC) No security, shall be extended until 18 April 1979 at 1 1027/78 (3), as last amended by Regulation (EEC) No p.m . 517/79 (4), provides for the sale, from 22 March 1979, of beef taken over by intervention agencies before 1 Applications may be also be confirmed by letter, September 1978 ; whereas, following a postal strike in handed in to the intervention agency against acknow­ Ireland, it has not been possible for applicants to ledgement of receipt before 18 April 1979 at 1 p.m . confirm their applications in accordance with Article 4 ( 1 ) of Commission Regulation (EEC) No 21 6/69 (5) ; whereas it is therefore necessary to derogate from this Article 2 provision for the sale in question ; Whereas the measures provided for in this Regulation This Regulation shall enter into force on the day of its are in accordance with the opinion of the Manage­ publication in the Official Journal of the European ment Committee for Beef and Veal, Communities.
