COUNCIL DIRECTIVE of 19 December 1985 amending Directive 64/43 2/EEC as regards the arrangements in relation to enzootic bovine leukosis as laid down by Directive 80/ 1102/EEC

THE COUNCIL OF THE EUROPEAN COMMUNITIES, Whereas Article 3 of Directive 80 / 1102/EEC requires that proposals be made concerning the definitive arrangements relating to enzootic bovine leukosis ; Having regard to the Treaty establishing the European Economic Community, and in particular Articles 43 and 100 thereof, Whereas the said arrangements have functioned satis­ factorily during the abovementioned transitional period ; whereas it nevertheless appears necessary to carry out Having regard to the proposal from the Commission ('), further research on the possibility of inclusion of new screening tests in Community legislation ; whereas the arrangements applied during the transitional period Having regard to the opinion of the European Parlia­ should therefore be extended for a further period of two ment (2), years ,

Whereas Council Directive 80 / 1102 / EEC of 11 November 1980 amending Directive 64/432 /EEC with Article 1 regard to enzootic bovine leukosis (4), as last amended by Directive 84/644/EEC (5), lays down common health Article 3 of Directive 80/ 1102 /EEC shall be replaced by guarantees regarding enzootic bovine leukosis as the following : applicable to bovine animals intended for intra­ Community trade ; Article 3

Whereas Article 1 of Directive 80 / 1102 / EEC included protective measures against enzootic bovine leukosis in Article 1 shall apply until 31 December 1987 .
