COMMISSION REGULATION (EEC) No 988/88 of 14 April 1988 amending Regulation (EEC) No 927/88 introducing a countervailing charge on tomatoes originating in the Canary Islands

THE COMMISSION OF THE EUROPEAN COMMUNITIES, Community must apply in its trade with the Canary Having regard to the Treaty establishing the European Islands, for products covered by Annex II to the EEC Economic Community, Treaty, the general arrangements which it applies in its foreign trade ; Having regard to the Act of Accession of Spain and Portugal, Whereas, in accordance with Article 4 of the said Having regard to Council Regulation (EEC) No 1035/72 Protocol, the products, including tomatoes specified in of 18 May 1972 on the common organization of the Annex A to the Protocol, qualify for preferential arrange market in fruit and vegetables ('), as last amended by ments, subject to the tariff quota opened by way of Regulation (EEC) No 824/88 (2), and in particular the Council Regulation (EEC) No 4063/87 (*), second subparagraph of Article 27 (2) thereof, Whereas Commission Regulation (EEC) No 927/88 (3) introduced a countervailing charge on tomatoes origina HAS ADOPTED THIS REGULATION : ting in the Canary Islands ; Whereas Article 26 ( 1 ) of Regulation (EEC) No 1035/72 Article 1 laid down the conditions under which a charge intro duced in application of Article 25 of that Regulation is In Article 1 of Regulation (EEC) No 927/88, 14,60 and amended ; whereas, if those conditions are taken into 15,54 ECU are hereby replaced by 57,68 and 61,36 ECU. consideration, the countervailing charge on the import of tomatoes originating in the Canary Islands must be altered, Article 2 Whereas, in accordance with Article 1 (5) of Protocol 2 to the Act of Accession of Spain and Portugal (4), the This Regulation shall enter into force on 15 April 1988 .
