REGULATION ( EEC) No 1495 / 73 OF THE COMMISSION of 6 June 1973 fixing the import levies on white sugar and raw sugar

THE COMMISSION OF THE EUROPEAN relation to the Community currencies referred to COMMUNITIES , in the previous subparagraph ; whereas the Opinion of the Monetary Committee was Having regard to the Treaty establishing the European requested ; Economic Community ; Having regard to Council Regulation No 1009 / Whereas it follows from applying the rules and other 67/ EEC (') of 18 December 1967 on the common provisions contained in Regulation (EEC) No 254/73 organization of the market in sugar, as last amended to the information at present available to the Commis­ by Regulation (EEC) No 174/73 (2), and in particular sion that the levies at present in force should be Article 1 4 (7) thereof ; altered as shown in the Annex to this Regulation ; Whereas the import levies on white sugar and raw sugar were fixed by Regulation (EEC) No 254/73 (3) HAS ADOPTED THIS REGULATION : and subsequent amending Regulations ;

Whereas, if the levy system is to operate normally, Article 1 levies should be calculated on the following basis : The levies referred to in Article 14(1 ) of Regulation — in the case of currencies which are maintained in No 1009/ 67/EEC are, in respect of white sugar and relation to each other, at any given moment, standard quality raw sugar, hereby fixed as shown in within a band of 2-25 % , a rate of exchange based the Annex to this Regulation . on their effective parity ; — for other currencies an exchange rate based on the Article 2 arithmetic mean of the spot market rates of each of these currencies recorded for a given period, in This Regulation shall enter into force on 7 June 1973 .

This Regulation shall be binding in its entirety and directly applicable in all Member States .
