THE COMMISSION OF THE EUROPEAN whereas the spot market rates recorded for the COMMUNITIES, pound sterling and the Irish pound pursuant to Regulation (EEC) No 1380/75 during the period 17 to 23 March 1976 shows that the difference has Having regard to the Treaty establishing the changed by more than one point from the percentage European Economic Community, taken as a basis when the monetary compensatory amounts were last fixed ; Having regard to Council Regulation (EEC) No 974/71 of 12 May 1971 on certain measures of Whereas because of the speculative movements which conjunctural policy to be taken in agriculture took place on exchange markets between 15 to following the temporary widening of the margins of 19 March 1976, the exchange rates recorded during fluctuation for the currencies of certain Member that period shall not be considered as representative States (*), as last amended by Regulation (EEC) of the real value of the Italian lira ; whereas, moreover, No 557/76 (2), and in particular Articles 3 and 6 the exchange rates for the latter have improved since thereof, then ; whereas the monetary compensatory amounts applicable in Italy from 29 March 1976 should therefore be calculated on the basis of the average Whereas the monetary compensatory amounts provided for in Regulation (EEC) No 974/71 were exchange rates recorded on the Rome and Milan fixed by Commission Regulation (EEC) No 572/76 stock exchanges on 22, 23 and 24 March 1976 ; of 15 March 1976 (3 ), as last amended by Regulation ( EEC ) No 652/76 (4 ); "Whereas, with regard to the monetary compensatory amounts applicable in Italy, the measures provided for in this Regulation are in accordance with the Whereas, under Article 3 of Regulation (EEC) opinions of all the management committees concerned, No 974/71 , the monetary compensatory amounts must be altered if the difference referred to in Article 2 ( 1 ) of that Regulation changes by one point HAS ADOPTED THIS REGULATION : or more from the percentage taken as a basis for the preceding determination ; whereas the compensatory amounts must be altered in accordance with the Article 1 change in this difference ;

In Annex I to Regulation (EEC) No 572/76 Whereas detailed rules for the application of the columns headed 'United Kingdom'; 'Ireland' and monetary compensatory amounts were laid down 'Italia' are hereby replaced by those set out in by Regulation (EEC) No 1380/75 of 29 May 1975 (5), Annex I to this Regulation . as last amended by Regulation (EEC) No 571 /76 (6); 2 . Annex II to Regulation (EEC) No 572/76 is hereby replaced by Annex II to this Regulation.

(*) Le montant compensatoire n'est pas perçu dans la limite d'un contingent tarifaire annuel à octroyer par les autorités compétentes des Commu nautés européennes : a) pour des génisses et vaches, autres que celles destinées à la boucherie, de la race grise, brune, jaune tacheté du Simmental et du Pinzgau ; b) pour des taureaux, vaches et génisses autres que ceux destinés à la boucherie, de la race tachetée du Simmental , de la race de Schwyz et de la race de Fribourg. (') The compensatory amount will not be levied on animals imported within an annual tariff quota to be granted by the competent authorities of the European Communities : (a) for heifers and cows, other than those intended for slaughter, of the grey, brown, and mottled yellow Simmental and Pinzgau breeds, (b) for bulls, heifers, and cows, other than those intended for slaughter, of the mottled Simmental breed, the Schwyz breed, and the Friborg breed. (l) Der Ausgleichsbetrag wird nicht erhoben im Rahmen eines von den zuständigen Stellen der Europäischen Gemeinschaften zu gewährenden jährlichen Zollkontingents : a) für Färsen und Kühe, nicht zum Schlachten, der Rassen Grauvieh, Braunvieh, Gelbvieh, Fleckvieh (Simmentaler) und Pinzgauer, b) für Stiere, Kühe und Färsen der Schwyzer, Simmentaler (Fleckvieh) oder Freiburger Rasse, nicht zum Schlachten . 4) For products under subheading 04.01 A II a) the basic amount as well as the additional amount is replaced by the single amount of 1-190.

5) The basic amount for 100 kg of product under this subheading is equal to the sum of the following elements : (a) the amount per 100 kg indicated ; (b) an additional amount for each percentage of saccharose content in 100 kg net of the product, equal to : — 0-0215 £ for the United Kingdom, — 0-0188 £ for Ireland, — 56-37 Lit for Italy.

6) However, for butter which is the subject of the measures provided for: — in Regulations (EEC) No 1282/72 ( OJ No L 142, 22 . 6. 1972) and (EEC) No 1717/72 ( OJ No L 181 , 9. 8 . 1972), this amount shall be multiplied by the coefficient 0-4 ; however, in the case of the United Kingdom the coefficient shall be 0-6; — in Regulation (EEC) No 349/73 ( OJ No L 40, 13 . 2. 1973 ), this amount shall be multiplied by the coefficient 0-5 ; — in Regulation (EEC) No 232/75 ( OJ No L 24, 31 . 1 . 1975 ) this amount shall be multiplied by : — the coefficient 0-45 in the case of use for 'formula A' products, — the coefficient 0-65 in the case of use for 'formula B ' products ; however, in the case of the United Kingdom these coefficients applied shall be respectively 0-60 and 0-85.

7) For importations from New Zealand in accordance with the provisions of Protocol No 18 this compensatory amount is fixed at 7-569 and the special levy is not affected by the coefficient.

8) For importations from New Zealand in accordance with the provisions of Protocol No 18 this compensatory amount is fixed at 6-535 and the special levy is not affected by the coefficient.

9) In trade with third countries this amount is affected by the coefficient 1-6802.

For the calculation of the fat content, only milk fat is taken into consideration .
